BONTOC, Mountain Province – Two government workers were hurt while two others were able to escape unhurt after they were reportedly whipped several times with a huge stick by still unidentified suspects while walking along the national road at Poblacion here Tuesday dawn.
Senior Superintendent Cornelio Comila, officer-in-charge of the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office, identified the wounded individuals as Denver P. Lumbag, 30, married and native of barangay Balili, Bontoc and Marcelino C. Accab, 35, married, native of Dantay, Alab Proper, Bontoc, both are government employee and presently residing at Poblacion, Bontoc..
Initial police investigation showed the victims, together with two companions who were unhurt, were walking along the national road when they were followed by a still undetermined number of unidentified male suspects who were holding a stick and upon reaching the area fronting the Chico building, the suspects started whipping the suspects several times until the victims were sprawled on the ground before they fled towards an undisclosed direction.
Concerned citizens and responding police operatives immediately rushed the victims to the Bontoc General Hospital for medical treatment where both of them were confined for further medical observation.
The suspects are now the subject of a manhunt operation by concerned police operatives for them to answer for the crime they committed.
