TAYUM, Abra – A tricycle driver and his back rider were hurt after their vehicle was sideswiped by a speeding truck along the national road, particularly at barangay Deet here Monday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the injured individuals as Romnick Mensigan Valera, 28, single, tricycle driver and a resident of barangay Patucannay, Bangued, Abra and his back rider Mark Vincent Brioso Pastores, 21, single, and a resident of Barangay Patuccanay, Bangued, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed that the tricycle was proceeding towards the south when a speeding truck that came from behind overtook the same but its body hit a portion of the driver’s handle causing the same to turn upside down.
Responding police operatives and concerned citizens immediately rushed the victims to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment while the driver of the truck is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
