BANGUED, Abra – Two people were killed while three others, including a barangay captain, were injured in two separate shooting incidents in the province Thursday night and Friday morning.
Police authorities said that still unidentified heavily armed individuals peppered a Toyota Hi Ace van with bullets while travelling at sitio Silag, barangay Calot, here, at around 7 am, Friday that resulted in the death of Demy Peralta, a construction worker and a resident of barangay Calot, Bangued, Abra and inflicting injuries to Calot punong barangay Robert Bio and his two brothers, Benson and Reymart.
Peralta sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body that caused his instantaneous death while the injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are now in stable condition undergoing medical treatment for the injuries they sustained.
On the other hand, a 36-year old man died after he was shot to death a gun-wielding person while playing pool inside the Galera residence at barangay Sagap, here.
The victim was identified as Ronald Dumalen, 36 while the suspect was named as Isidro Baoit.
Probers claimed that the victim and the suspect, together with three other individuals, were playing pool when the gunman allegedly shot the victim for still unknown reasons and immediately fled the crime scene after the said incident.
The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial hospital for medical treatment, but he expired while on the way to the health facility
Responding police personnel recovered some ten spent shells of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene while investigation is still underway on the real motive behind the successive shooting incidents in the capital town over a short span of time. By Dexter A. See
