BAGUIO CITY – Two lady guards died after one of them shot her live in partner before shooting herself inside the compound of the city engineering office at Lower Rock Quarry, here, Wednesday evening.
Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, acting city director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatalities as Janet Aquino Soriano, 32, single, Security Guard, Ilocano in ethnicity, and her live-in partner Marjorie Padtoc Dichoso, 36, single, security guard, and both residing at No. LC-136 Rockyside, Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed Dichoso asked permission from his superior to visit Soriano, her live in partner assigned at the city engineering office, for them to settle their supposed differences considering that the latter did not go home the previous night.
Based on the testimony of Romel Fuentes Adante, 42, and residing at No. 250 Puliwes, Baguio City, security guards assigned at the entrance heard a burst of gunfire inside the city engineering office that prompted him to go to the area to see what happened.
Upon arrival in the area, he saw their co-security guard Soriano lying bloodied on the ground while Dichoso having possession of a handgun.
Adante then requested Dichoso to put her gun down but she pointed to gun to him and squeezed the trigger but the firearm failed to fire off.
At this juncture, Dichoso allegedly reloaded her firearm and then shot herself on her head that caused her instantaneous death.
Responding police personnel and concerned security guards immediately rushed Soriano to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment for the gunshot wound on her neck but she later expired.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team who processed the crime scene recovered from Dichoso a calibre .9mm pistol with an empty magazine, two fired shells and two live ammunitions.
Probers are still ascertaining whether or not the motive of the shooting incident was jealousy.
