TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Water is recognized as one of the most pressing needs in barangay Naneng, particularly during the summer months, hence the development of water works in the barangay is their top priority project.
During a visit to their barangay on February 15, Punong Barangay Rommel M. Balunggay stated that the improvement of water systems in their area should be prioritized, especially because the summer season is approaching.
“Sapay koma ta mai priority ta nu umay tu manen ti summer, agi innagaw tayo to manen iti danum sigurado tu manen nga aga-apa tayo” he asked adding that the water system situated at sitio Banong and Pollekak needs to be develop because this is where the large supply of water in their area comes from.
“Ken nayunan tayo koma dagitoy nga water system tayo tapno sigurado nga kada balay ket saan nga maawanan iti danum karkaro no tiempo ti summer,” the punong barangay concluded.
City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero urged residents to properly plan their priority projects for the next three years, emphasizing that barangay Naneng has the potential to develop into a progressive tourist destination in the future.
The Mayor said he had previously requested the City Tourism Office to seek cooperation from national agencies to safeguard the area’s cultural designation, citing the fact that certain heritage houses in the neighborhood are already being developed.
“Though ammuk nga kayang kaya iti taga Naneng nga ipabaro dagitoy nga century houses, ket sapay koma ta ma preserve latta ta isu daytoy iti daydayayo-en dagita turista nga umay kitan, kasla idiay Vigan,” he said.
Naneng is also known for their Inandila Festival, which is held every year. This is also where the century-old Saint Joseph Church is situated.
In his closing remarks, ABC president, Atty. Henry B. Tubban Jr. praised the people of the barangay for their “participatory and collaborative government.”
“Congratulations ta sigagaget kayo nga inmay maki plano para iti pagsayaatan ti barangay yo. Saan lang nga iti batang yo ket umay agdengngeg nu di ket mangibaga iti karirikna yo,” he concluded.
