TABUK CITY, Kalinga – This year, the city government under the leadership of Mayor Darwin Estrañero completed two road improvement projects in Barangay Balong.
These projects include the concreting of road in all purok of Balong with appropriation of PhP3M and the improvement of the road going to the Agro Food Center with PhP1M appropriation.
According to Barangay Chair Jerry Doctolero, the two newly completed road projects supervised by the City Engineering Office provide people with improved accessibility when going to various places in the barangay and better access to various services being provided, such as education, health, and social welfare, among others.
Residents also use the concreted roads to dry agricultural items such as corn, palay, and coffee, according to him.
Aside from road improvements, Balong is also the beneficiary of a PhP2 million flood control project, which is now being built.
Mayor Estrañero, who envisions a more progressive Tabuk City, stressed the importance of these projects as one means to promote the city’s economy and tourism industry.
