ITOGON, Benguet – Some twenty members of the Dalicno Livelihood and Skills Development Association (DaLSA) underwent a five-day dressmaking and tailoring organized by the Itogon Suyoc Resources, Inc. (ISRI) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Baguio-Benguet Provincial Office last August 13-17, 2024.
The first batch of DALSA members underwent the community-based training which was conducted at the temporary center at Dalicno, Ampucao.
DaLSA is a budding and a promising livelihood association organized by the empowered individuals of sitio Dalicno to which majority are women who came together with the same goals and objectives in life.
Among the association’s goals are to equip the members with knowledge on sewing skills through trainings and capacity building and to have the opportunity to grow and contribute to the economic development of their families, community and the barangay as well.
ISRI and TESDA organized the said community-based training as part of their firm commitment for the realization of the aforesaid goals of the association, Ampucao being one of ISRI’s impacted barangays.
At present, DaLsA has some 60 members and counting because of the empowerment of individuals in the community triggered by the programs, projects and activities of the association.
Acting TESDA Provincial Director Arlene L. Cadalig personally graced the opening ceremony of the activity to assure the agency’s firm commitment in equipping the trainees with adequate skills and knowledge that they could use in sustaining their economic activities and sources of livelihood for their families and the community.
Joining her were Charity Magalis and the trainer Alberto Ampaguey.
Present during the opening ceremony was Calvin Perez, auditor from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) central office, to witness the said event which is part of ISRI’s Social Management and Development Program (SDMP).
The activity was held while the audit of the company’s SDMP project implementation was being undertaken was being undertaken by the MGB central office.
The audit of the said projects was done in the company’s host barangays to ascertain the completion of the lined up projects within the prescribed period. By Dexter A. See
