FLORA, Apayao – The Apayao Training Center (ATC) launched a training induction program on February 11, for 20 women from various barangays in Flora who will undergo a 35-day Dressmaking NC II course.
The training is part of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), funded through the initiative of Apayao Lone District Representative Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, which aims to equip participants with skills in garment making, fitting, design, and customer service.
Under the TWSP, trainees receive free tuition and assessment fees, along with a daily allowance of PhP160, disbursed in two installments.
The program is conducted in partnership with the municipal government. Representing Mayor Juan, Municipal Administrator Marilou Valdez expressed gratitude for the continued support from the provincial government.
ATC Administrator Jerome Lacambra encouraged participants to complete the program, emphasizing that the skills they gain could open doors to livelihood and income opportunities. He also highlighted success stories of previous trainees who found employment or started their own businesses after completing similar training programs. By Michelle Acantilado
