BAGUIO CITY – Month-long Christmas in Baguio activities continue after the successful launching at the people’s park last December 1 evening.
A mardi gras children’s parade in the morning and spectacular lantern parade in the evening went through the main thoroughfares; after which Congressman Mark Go and Mayor Mauricio Domogan gave their Christmas messages. Fireworks lighted up the sky before and after the program.
Last weekend, the quest for the Lucky Christmas Family and Lucky Foreign Visitor happened. Said search is an annual advocacy of the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB) headed by veteran newsman Nars Padilla.
On December 9 at 9:00 AM at Malcolm Square, the Silahis ng Pasko Baguio City National High School Dancing and Singing Christmas Tree performs, followed by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) band concert at 2:00 PM.
A harana will performed at the Abanao square, with the David Harmonic Orchestra, Inc, Joy Foundation, and Rondalla group, from 4:00 to 6:P00 PM on December 14 to 16 and 21 to 23.
For health buffs, a Camp John Hay Christmas sunset run is set on December 15 with gunstart at 2:00PM.
On the same day, a Special Day for Special People is scheduled through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) with contests in amateur singing, instrumentals, chess, tournament forthe sightless and special athletes. A childrens’ palaro for the blind, mentally challenged, hearing, speech and orthopedically impaired will be conducted starting at 8:30AM at Malcolm square.
On December 15 to 23, the 9-night Aguinaldo mass happens at the Abanao square rooftop from 6:30 to 7:30PM, while at the Lady of Atonement Cathedral, the Simbang Gabi starts December 16 up to 24.
The Abanao square rooftop goes busy with a medical, dental and optical mission on December 17, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in coordination with Medikalinga, and the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc., after which the venue is open for a Christmas decoration competition.
On December 17 and 18, the Baguio City National High School special program in the arts presents “Pamaskong Handog ng Sining” at their auditorium. Abanao Square “Kids Journey to the North Pole Christmas Party will be at the roof deck from 1 to 4:00 PM, December 20, 2018.
On December 25, members of the selection committee goes around the hospitals for the Lucky Baguio Christmas Baby Quest. A Silahis ng Pasko holy mass is celebrated at Malcolm Square, 4:00 PM on December 27.
Concerts and other merry making activities happen in various venues, with the Baguio Balikbayan and carsportsmen day on December 29 , 9:00 AM at Sunshine Park.
On New Year’s Day, the quest for the Lucky New Year Baby is conducted by NCCB.
