TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) successfully conducted its two-day entrance examination from September 21-22 at the Kalinga State University Gymnasium.
According to Major Joseph Ajan, the head proctor of city’s examination center, out of the thousand aspirants who flocked to the testing location, only 600 cadet hopefuls were admitted during the 2 day scheduled examination, 300 applicants including walk-ins qualifying for the first day and another 300 for the second day.
Most of the applicants who took the examination are from Kalinga, and the others came from nearby provinces in the Cordillera region.
According to the PMA, if the applicant passes the exam, the Office of Cadet Admission (OCA) will send him or her a written notice with the exam results and instruction to report to the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC).
In order to assess the applicant’s suitability for military training at the Academy, a Comprehensive Physical Examination (CPE) will be conducted. During this examination, the applicant’s physical, mental, and emotional health will be examined. The CPE takes a number of days hence a cadet candidate must stay in the billeting area provided by the academy in AFPMC.
If the applicant successfully makes it, he or she will be brought to PMA on April 1 for the Oath-Taking Ceremony and Reception Rites, signifying his or her official entry into the Academy. The applicant must report to the PMA Liaison Office in AFPMC for final processing during the last week of March.
During their four years of stay at the Academy, they will undergo education and training intended to equip them to serve as Filipino soldiers and officers in the armed forces.
The city became one of the PMA test centers in 2020 and more than twenty candidates from the province of Kalinga were accepted into the academy that same year.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, September 21, Ajan handed a certificate of appreciation to the city government under the leadership of Mayor Darwin Estrañero and the City Public Information Office headed by Aurora Amilig for the active support and invaluable contribution during the conduct of the PMA Entrance Examination 2024.
