BAGUIO CITY November 12 – Some 205 applicants were hired on the spot by the different participating local companies during the one-day ABS-CBN jobs fair which was held at the Porta Vaga mall last Saturday.
Jose L. Atanacio Executive Assistant IV of the City Mayor’s Office and Public Employment Services Officer (PESO) Manager, said out of those who were hired on the spot, 101 were males while 104 were females which was equivalent to 17.03 percent of the total qualified applicants.
Of the total 1,434 number of registrants during the job fair which was composed of 912 females and 522 males, 1,204 were said to have been qualified which was composed of 775 females and 429 males.
The participating establishments to the said jobs fair were FC Laranang Group of Companies, Ayson Marketing, John Hay Management Corporation, Sitel Philippines Corp., Camp John Hay Manor, Noble Trends Unbound, Tree Top Adventure – Baguio, Techno Dream Web Works,, Intercontinental Htel Groups (IHG), City Light Hotel, Sutherland Global Services, Monol International School, Convergy’s, Oppo, SM Supermart, Tiong San, Pines International Academy, People Serve Multipurpose Cooperative and Baguio Country Club.
The conduct of the jobs fair was done by ABS-CBN in partnership with the city government of Baguio and the Cordillera office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR).
Atanacio expressed the gratitude of the city government to its partners like ABS-CBN for the sustained conduct of the jobs fair in order to provide qualified local residents with available employment opportunities for them to be able to maximize their potentials as productive citizens of the city, saying that the local government will continue supporting the conduct of similar activities by other groups wanting to provide jobs for the greater majority of the populace.
