BAGUIO CITY – Some twenty two motorists were successfully arrested by personnel of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) for alleged over speeding along various roads in the city following the strict implementation of Ordinance No. 18, series of 2019 or the Speed Limit ordinance of Baguio.
BCPO City Director Police Col. Ruel D. Tagel said that the apprehension of over speeding motorists was done with the aid of the newly procured speed guns that served as instrumental in determining the speed of motor vehicles.
The newly procured devices allowed the police personnel to closely monitor the speed of motor vehicles more accurately and enhance the effective implementation of traffic rules and regulations done in various roads around the city.
The BCPO official pointed out that the strict implementation of the speed limit ordinance is part of the ongoing efforts to maintain the city as a safe, pedestrian-friendly and walkable city.
He claimed that the safety of the people in the community remains to be one of their top priorities and that the observance of discipline of motorists on the wheel will surely lead to fewer accidents and safer roads for everyone.
He reminded the motorists to strictly observe the city’s speed limit regulations and practice responsible driving at all times.
The police official asserted that regular traffic enforcement operations will be conducted to guarantee the protection of motorists, commuters and pedestrians in the different parts of the city because safety of the people is what matters in the implementation of laws, rules and regulations governing speed limit among others.
