TABUK CITY, Kalinga – To further enhance the services offered by personnel of the city government to the public, the City Information, Communication and Technology Office (CICTO), in partnership with the Department of Information, Communication and Technology (DICT)- Kalinga, conducted a 5 day MS (MICROSOFT) Office digital literacy training for 25 personnel of the CLGU from August 6-11, 2023.
The training consisted of mastering basic MS Office applications such as MS Word, Exel, and PowerPoint.
Benny Rose Simangon, manager of Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED), commended the participants, remarking that their training will allow them to complete digital office tasks more quickly.
She also emphasized that the training was one of the first steps in the CLGU’s transformation into a “Smart City.”
She urged them to keep on learning about MS Office applications.
“Mabalin kayu latta nga agadal uray nalpas ti training. Ada met dita ti YouTube, Facebook, ken pati TikTok, nga isu us-usarek nu dadduma,” she said.
In addition to congratulating the participants, DICT-Kalinga Provincial Officer Mona Lisa Vizcarra noted that the DICT had also incorporated cyber security training for them because it is currently necessary for them to preserve their digital assets.
“We are already dependent on these technologies so much. At darating ang araw na wala na tayong makikita na papel sa mga desk natin kasi mostly dumadaan nga sa internet ang mga reports natin,” she explained.
Vizcarra expressed her pride that Tabuk is one of the locations promoting the idea of turning into a smart city, with the local administration leading the campaign.
In addition, she urged the participants to use what they had learned in their individual workplaces rather than focusing solely on earning certificates.
“Sana hindi maiiwan dito yung mga natutunan natin at magamit natin ito sa mga everyday transactions,” she said.
