TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government through the City Public Employment Service Office (CPESO), will only accommodate 252 beneficiaries under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) from the more than 700 applicants.
CPESO Head Loyda Saboy explained there was a reduction of the number of students to be considered compared to last year where they employed more than 500 beneficiaries.
“Pasensya kadagiti saan nga ma-accommodate because of the reduction of the National Tax Allocation,” Saboy explained.
Because it was a challenge on their part to choose among all the applicants, they had closed the application last April 20, 2023, to give more time in their screening process.
In order to maintain the program’s continuance, they established specific criteria to give the top priority to those in need, including students in Grade 12 till those in their third year of college.
“Kung sino ang mas nangangailangan, isuda iti priority iti city government,” Saboy said, stressing that, “Awan iti favoritism ta adda iti guidelines, requirements that you have to comply with.”
In the upcoming days, the complete list of SPES beneficiaries will be posted. The fortunate students will receive 455.18 each day for 20 days, with 40% of that amount coming from the Department of Labor and Employment and 60% from the city government.
