KABUGAO, Apayao – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Apayao disbursed PhP1,846,420 for the payout of 262 beneficiaries under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in Kabugao.
The payout was made in Barangay EKB during the celebration of Provincial Founder’s Day on May 18. The beneficiaries come from 15 barangays in said town.
The TUPAD program is an emergency employment initiative implemented at the barangay level, regularly funded by Rep. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang and the provincial government.
This financial support is vital as it helps beneficiaries improve their standard of living and meet basic needs.
Additionally, the program provides a sense of dignity and respect to workers, acknowledging their hard work. This likewise demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting them and their families during challenging times. By providing financial assistance through initiatives like TUPAD, the government helps reduce poverty and promote economic empowerment among disadvantaged groups. Each TUPAD recipient received PhP6,454 after being employed for 15 days in April.
Moreover, DOLE-Apayao mentioned 32 government internship program (GIP) slots provided to the town of Kabugao.
According to Provincial Head of DOLE Apayao Jane Y. Adalan, there are 22 GIP grantees funded by Bulut-Begtang and an additional 10 slots provided by Gov. Bulut. The GIP is a government initiative designed to introduce young people to the workforce.
The Office of the Congressman, the provincial government, and the local government units collaborate to make this flagship DOLE initiative possible. Its goal is to provide temporary employment to unemployed, underemployed, and seasonal workers. By Krizza Joy Castillo
