LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Some twenty seven wanted persons were successively arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents during the week-long anti-criminality operations in the different parts of the Cordillera from August 2-8, 2024.
Police authorities stated that the Benguet Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests, with 11 wanted persons apprehended. This was followed by the Baguio City Police Office with nine arrests, the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) with five, and the Apayao and Ifugao PPOs, each with one arrest. Among those arrested, six were listed as Top Most Wanted Persons (TMWP) three at the provincial level and three at the municipal level.
These operations also yielded impressive results in crime reduction, with 70 municipalities recording zero crime incidents during the same week. This includes 26 municipalities in Abra, 12 in Benguet, 10 in Mountain Province, nine in Ifugao, seven in Apayao, and six in Kalinga. Additionally, Baguio City Police Stations 1 and 7 reported no crime incidents.
Notably, the campaign contributed to a 60% decrease in the Peace and Order Indicator (POI) and a 0.63% reduction in the average weekly crime rate compared to the same period last year. PRO-CAR officers also demonstrated exceptional performance in crime clearance and resolution, achieving a 25% crime clearance efficiency and a 20% crime solution efficiency.
