BAGUIO CITY – Department of Labor and Employment-CAR Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena expressed his satisfaction over the result of the June 12, 2015 jobs fair saying that the Job Fair resulted to the hiring on the spot (HOTS) of 273 jobseekers, 11.49 percent higher than the HOTS target (20 %) of the Department.
There were 867 job applicants who qualified and 31.49 percent of them were HOTS he said.
A total of 1219 job seekers were interviewed more than the actual number of applicants (984) who registered because there were also applicants who were interviewed by one or more employers.
He said that the success of the Kalayan Jobs Fair activity is through the efforts of the various agencies. He recognized the active participation of DOLE partner agencies especially the City government of Baguio through PESO, University of the Cordilleras, ABS-CBN and Herald Express.
DOLE-CAR also referred 43 applicants to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for skills training and 99 applicants for livelihood assistance.
During the jobs fair, DOLE-CAR conducted signing of commitment wall to fight against child labor participated by DSWD, DepEd, DOH, DILG, CIDG, DOJ, PIA, PRO-COR, TESDA, University of Baguio, Family Welfare Federation-CAR, JCI Baguio Sunflower, Boys High Otcho Tres, Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital, Council for the Welfare of Children.
The job fair was participated by 21 local companies offering 2,195 job vacancies.
