TUBA, Benguet – Three farmers, including a minor, were arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents after having ground in their possession over P2.4 million worth of marijuana during a drug buy bust operation here Wednesday afternoon.
The suspects were identified as Laista Ligawan Pedro, 20, a resident of Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet, Jimmer Sawasi Bedkingan, 27, a native of Tacadang, Kibungan and presently residing at Poblacion, Atok, Benguet and a 17-year old boy living at Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet.
The three suspects were subjected to surveillance operations over the past two months for being alleged dealers of the illegal hemp from Kibungan.
Seized from them were 20 kilos of dried marijuana leaves and stalks worth P2.46 million. Also captured is the vehicle of the suspects. Recovered from the three was the buy-bust money.
The anti-drug operatives disclosed that the weeds came from Kibungan, Benguet. The suspects are now facing criminal charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. By Dexter A. See
