TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Three people were killed while thirty six others were injured after a Tabuk-bound fully loaded passenger jeepney lost its brakes, turned on its right side and bumped a concrete wall while descending along the road at Makakabbet, Cudal , here, Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Brent Majaco, provincial director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the fatalities as Irene Mayaoyao, Vandam Mayaoyao and Hero Wackisan, all residents of Tanudan, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed that the vehicle driven by Ramos Mangawit Mayaoyao came from Se-et, Mabaca, Tanudan, Kalinga and was negotiating a descending portion of the road in the place of incident when it suddenly lost its brakes and balance, fell on its right side and bumped a concrete wall on the side of the road.
AS a result of the impact of the collision, the jeepney passengers who were on top of the vehicle were thrown off the said jeepney while the other occupants were thrown along the road.
Rescuers and emergency responders from Tabuk immediately responded to the accident scene immediately rushed the passengers to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital and Almora General Hospital for medical treatment but the three individuals were declared dead on arrival due to multiple fatal injuries on the different parts of their bodies.
Probers are still conducting an indepth investigation on the real cause of the incident that transpired in the said area.
