TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Three persons died after they were allegedly fired upon by still unidentified gunmen at Purok 7, Barangay San Julian, here, Thursday morning.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Santos Calsiyao, Tokar Calsiyao and Leo Palat Calsiyao, all residents of Basao Dilag, Tabuk City, Kalinga. At around 7 am of April 24, 2025, the duty investigator reportedly responded to a reported shooting incident that transpired in the aforesaid place and saw the victims lying lifeless on the road having in their possession two M-16 Armalite rifles and one shotgun.
Probers showed that the victims were allegedly involved in an armed encounter with still unidentified gunmen near the house of a barangay kagawad who reportedly belongs to the Biga tribe.
The crime scene was more or less 50 meters within the vicinity of the said residence where the exchange of gunfire transpired until the victims allegedly moved towards the north direction where they were discovered lifeless.
The crime scene is now being processed by the Kalinga Provincial Police Office forensic unit while hot pursuit operation had been launched by the combined police operatives for the eventual arrest of the suspects who fled towards a still undisclosed direction.
