Three men were feared dead while two others survived after being cut off from oxygen in a tunnel they were digging at Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya earlier today.
The said mine is allegedly owned by FCF Minerals.
The missing persons were aged 47, 56, and 63, while the two survivors from Maddela, Quirino are both adults, although their exact ages have not yet been determined.
According to the initial report from the Quezon PNP, the victims were found in Drain 2 of FCF and the tunnel had reached a depth of 300 meters. Due to the remoteness of the location and lack of cell signal, the incident was only reported to the police at 10 a.m. through the Barangay Captain.
The rescue efforts were spearheaded by the PNP, BFP, PDRRMO, and personnel from the mining company FCF Minerals. Rescuers faced difficulties because of the narrow and deep hole created by the victims.
