BONTOC, Mountain Province – Cheers and rhythmic sounds of gongs filled the Eyeb Ground as people gathered to witness this year’s Lang-ay Festival Cultural Showdown on April 5.
The event featured three categories. Sabangan grabbed the champion title in the Children category, earning them a 45,000-peso cash prize. Bontoc landed as 1st runner-up with 35,000 pesos and Barlig placed 2nd runner-up with 25,000 pesos.
The municipality of Bontoc emerged as champions in the Adult or Mix category with a reward of 70,000 pesos, followed by Natonin as 1st runner-up with 50,000 pesos. Besao bagged 2nd runner-up with 40,000 pesos in the said competition.
Paracelis secured its win as the sole entry for the Open category of the event, bringing home a cash prize worth 70,000 pesos. All group participants were also given a participation fee worth 20,000 pesos.
The event continued with the Indigenous Games in the afternoon and culminated in a vibrant Fireworks Display and Gangsa Night celebration. By Aiyra Marzan
