LAGAWE, Ifugao – The DPWH-Ifugao Second District Engineering Office has completed thirty (30) infrastructure projects for CY 2014 consisting of upgrading/construction of national roads, drainage protection works, construction and maintenance of bridges, construction/improvement of Tourism Destination Roads, construction of rainwater collectors, construction of farm-to-market roads, flood control/river control projects, calamity funded projects, construction of school buildings and barangay health stations.
Among the completed projects are: Road upgrading along Alfonso Lista-Aurora Boundary Road, Construction/Rehabilitation of Drainage/protection works San Jose-San Marcos Flood Control, Replacement of Chaya Bridge, Construction of Road at Sitio Gohachan, Mayoyao, Ifugao, Construction of Lupao Barangay Road, Aguinaldo, Ifugao, Construction of Barangay San Quintin Multi-purpose Building, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, Construction of Amganad E/S Multi-purpose Building, Banaue, Ifugao, Restoration of road and removal of slides along Ubao-Taang Road, Aguinaldo, Ifugao, and Construction of Animal Bite Center, Potia District Hospital, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao.
Last January 16, 2015, District Engineer Romelda A. Bangasan, OIC Assistant District Engineer Teofilo D. Ramirez, Jr., and all Section Chiefs together with Representative Teodoro B. Baguilat, Jr., Mayor Clemente S. Talusig, Municipality of Aguinaldo and Mayor Glenn D. Prudenciano, Municipality of Alfonso Lista inspected various District and Regional road projects accomplished for CY 2014 and assessed the CY 2015 proposed projects. A meeting followed wherein issues and concerns on how to improve the accomplishments and performance of the District Office had been discussed.
Rep. Baguilat said that he is happy to visit the project sites and have a consultation meeting with DPWH employees, LGU Officials and local contractors. He added that it is important for them Legislators to monitor the projects that are funded through the national budget and make sure that the projects are implemented according to existing rules and regulations.
“I was pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful the roads are – wide, two lanes with curb and gutter and safety devices were installed. I never could imagine 5 years ago that these places will have good roads in a short period of time,” Rep. Baguilat said.
DE Bangasan reported that 45.59 kms. out of 195.436 kms. or about 23% of the Secondary National Roads of Ifugao 2nd DEO will be left unpaved after CY 2015. “If the trend of project funding will push through, we hope to pave/concrete all roads in this District by 2017,” DE Bangasan said.
According to OIC-ADE Ramirez, the national road from Isabela to Alfonso-Lista and Aguinaldo is almost concreted. Construction of the curb and gutter on some road sections are being implemented and hopefully, will be completed this year.
Mayor Talusig and Mayor Prudenciano also expressed their appreciation on the road improvements in their Municipalities, ensuring safe and comfortable travel to their constituents. Mayor Talusig said that a good and safe road condition will uplift the economic status of their Municipality because agricultural products will be easily transported to nearby provinces of Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya.//Nora P.
