LUNA, Apayao – Over 87 households or 315 residents in Tuyangan, Kabugao received an array of social services and medical services through Project BUTSY, on September 19.
Of the 315, 141 individuals, through the partnership of Provincial Health Office and Apayao Provincial Hospital (APH), were given medical services which include circumcision (5 beneficiaries), dental (1), fluoride treatment (32), medical and pharmacy services (46), feeding program (30), and laboratory testing (27).
The services rendered were part of the ongoing efforts of Project BUTSY to reach out to fur flung areas to continually provide free medical services to residents needing medical attention.
Meantime, the other 174 availed of social services from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, including distribution of goods from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development.
Regional Mobile Force Battalion also conducted educational campaigns against drug use, free haircuts, and free clothes, while Board Member Kyle Bulut-Cunan led the distribution of tumblers and school supplies.
Tuyungan, Kabugao is considered one of the most isolated barangays in the province, with a travel time of 45 minutes by land and then 30 minutes by boat to reach the area.
The initiative is aligned with the vision of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.’s healthcare program, which aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to all YApayaos, particularly those in rural areas where medical services are limited.
The barangay health workers, staff from the RMFB 15005th| 98th IB Company, Board Member Jun Labueng and professional health workers also contributed to the program’s success.
APH Chief of Hospital Dra. Jarette Barmejo Agana assured that Project Butsy will continue to work until all areas have been visited and served, saying “Health care services will continue to travel throughout Apayao Province as part of Project BUTSY helping those in greatest need so that everyone deserves the care they need.”
Barangay officials were equally grateful for the program.
By Joyce Arian Soria
