SANTA MARCELA, Apayao – Approximately 330 youth participated in the opening of the 3rd Provincial Summit of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) held at Sipa-Imelda National High School, Barangay Sipa, on July 19, 2024.
The summit, themed “Thriving Youth Health: Revitalize Vibrancy to Ascribe Mental Health Stability,” was organized by the Apayao Police Provincial Office (APPO) in partnership with various youth organizations in the province.
Participants from various municipalities of Apayao attended lectures on the deceptive propaganda and recruitment strategies of communist front organizations, the dangers of illegal drugs, and laws protecting youth rights and welfare.
Day one featured various activities, including a Zumba dance competition. Upcoming activities will include poster and slogan making, spoken poetry, volleyball and basketball tournaments, and the Search for Mr. and Ms. KKDAT Ambassadors 2024.
A highlight of the summit was an inspirational talk by KKDAT President for Region 2, Ms. Angelica L. Murao, who emphasized the crucial role of youth in nation-building and their role as community role models.
The summit will conclude with the KKDAT Got Talent and the Search for Mr. and Ms. KKDAT Ambassador 2024 on July 21. By Michelle Acantilado
