TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) delivered food packs to 35 individuals in Brgy. New Tanglag. The food packs were from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the agency’s Food for Work program.
Each beneficiary received three boxes of food packs as remuneration for the six-day community work rendered in Sitio Ladek, barangay New Tanglag last July 27, 2022.
The assistance included six kilos of rice, 10 pieces of canned goods, packs of cereals and instant coffee.
According to Social Welfare Officer Marinel Dorgay who led the distribution, the 35 individuals were chosen to participate in the Food for Work program based on their interest to engage in community task particularly cleaning of drainage canals in Sitio Ladek as prevention strategy against dengue and flood.
The beneficiaries thanked the CSWDO and the DSWD for helping them out and expressed their hope that more people would be accommodated.
A short-term program, the Food for Work aims to give locals who are struggling financially temporary employment while also encouraging them to work together and take part in community projects.
