LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Office of Agricultural Services (POAS) on Tuesday said before 2024 ends, 350 fisherfolk in Apayao who underwent Tilapia Technology Training will receive aquaculture inputs consisting of 175,000 fish fingerlings and 875 bags of fish feeds.
“…still on-going ang procurement process of the inputs for the 350 Individual fisherfolks who are graduate of tilapia technology trainings provincewide, but it should be delivered before 2024 ends,” OAS staff said.
Each of the beneficiaries will be provided 500 pcs Tilapia fingerlings and 2.5 bags of fish feeds.
The cost of these inputs is P1,531,250.00, a portion from the approved P2,944,850 million total slated funds under the Fishery Development Projects for 2024 funded by the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU).
This project aligns with the Provincial Development Strategic Framework of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. and Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang in their pursuit for agricultural modernization and industrialization, centered on improving the quality of life for every yApayao.
In an interview, the POAS said the provision of inputs aims both to support food supply and generate additional income to the recipients, resolving the demand of basic food necessities among fisherfolks and their families.
Other initiatives under the Fishery Development Projects of POAS to be implemented province-wide along side with fingerlings distribution this year include, Establishment of Tilapia cage culture techno demo, Establishment of techno demo on Hito culture in earthen pond, and distribution of fish paraphernalia (Gill net,cast net).
All these get their budgetary allocation from the aforesaid P2.9million. By Arjay Baysa
