BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently commended and congratulated some 39 barangays in the city that were included in the Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para Sa Malinis Na Bayan (KALINISAN) sa Bagong Pilipinas program list for the second quarter 2024 in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
In a resolution authored by Councilor Leandro B. Yangot, Jr., city legislators stated that the top 39 barangays’ initiative, participation and support in the aggressive cleanup drive under the government’s KALINISAN sa Bagong Pilipinas program deserves the utmost commendation and recognition from the local government.
This program has three components, namely, barangay road clearing operation (BARCO) that aims to provide safety and convenience to the public by ensuring orderly and well maintained streets and roads; Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) or the community-based cleanup drive program which aims to make communities safe and health to live in, and the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) sa Barangay project which aims to plant more trees and create sustainable green edible species in communities.
The city’s barangays included in the list of BARCO complaint barangays are Aurora Hill Proper, South Sanitary Camp, Victoria Village, Brookspoint, Upper Quezon Hill, Mines View Park, Camdas Subdivision, Holy Ghost Extension, Gabriela Silang, East Bayan Park, South Drive, Scout Barrio, Magsaysay Private Road, Quezon Hill Proper and Alfonso Tabora.
For the BARKADA program, the city’s barangays that were able to make it to the list are Gibraltar, Lower Rock Quarry, Trancoville, Bakakeng Central, Middle Rock Quarry, Andres Bonifacio, Marcoville, Brookspoint, Loakan Proper, Phil-Am, Camp 8, Green Water Village, South Drive, Lower Lourdes Subdivision and Kabayanihan.
For barangays that were in the HAPAG list include East Bayan Park, Upper Market Subdivision, Salud Mitra, Imelda Marcos, Happy Hallow, Dontogan, Fort del Pilar, Phil-Am, Outlook Drive, Sto. Nino Slaughterhouse, Loakan Apugan, Scout Barrio, DPS, Middle Rock Quarry and South Drive.
Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local government issued Memorandum Circular No. 2024-001 enjoining all barangays nationwide to conduct a cleanup drive activity as part of the celebration of National Community Development Day and in support of the launch of the KALINISAN sa Bagong Pilipinas program.
