KIANGAN, Ifugao – Four members of the family of a barangay kagawad cheated death after their tricycle collided head on with a jeepney at sitio Balacbac, barangay Hucab here around 3:40 pm Saturday.
Superintendent Cherry Fajardo, public information officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the injured victims as Marvin Gano Bay-ong, 47, married, barangay kagawad and a tricycle driver, his wife Rowena and their two children, all residents of Hucab, Kaingan, Ifugao.
Initial police investigation showed the tricycle driven by Bay-ong was on the right lane of the road when a speeding jeepney driven by Romeo Nahigan Dimmalya, 37, married, driver, and a resident of O-ong, Hingyon, Ifugao suddenly encroached its lane causing the head on collision.
The victims were immediately rushed to the Panupdupan District Hospital in Banit, Lamut town where they are now confined for further observation on the injuries they sustained while the jeepney driver was detained at the Kiangan Municipal Station awaiting the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple serious physical injuries and damage to properties against him before the Ifugao provincial prosecutor’s office.
