KIBUNGAN, Benguet – Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO)’s Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAGPTD) chaired by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas turned over four sets of solar-powered light systems to families of four households in Sitio Lipucan, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet recently.
The solar panels which have recently been installed by personnel of Benguet PPO were funded through the Adivay fun-shoot fund-raising activity in November 2022 initiated by Provincial Police Director PCol. Damian Olsim and Governor Diclas.
Gov. Diclas said the Project Pailaw which started in December 2022 is a collective effort of the PGPTD team to support families in remote areas that have not yet been reached by electricity. The first beneficiary is a family in Taloy Sur who also benefited from the team’s Pabahay Renovation Project. The project was a joint program of the Benguet PPO PAGPTD through the initiative of Mr. Fernando S. Tiong.
Further, the benefiting families in Kibungan expressed appreciation for the PAGPTD team for reaching them out through the project which they said will be very helpful for them in their daily life.
Erbe Laoana, 56, a recipient of the project said it has been 40 years that they did not have electricity in their area which has been a challenge for them especially for their children reading their books in the evening.
“We always used candles at night which were even more expensive than the bill we could be paying if there had been electricity in our area,” Laoana said in a local language, adding they will now save money because of the Project Pailaw.
The turn-over ceremony for the said project was led by Governor Diclas, PD Olsim, Councilor Joseph Cayad-an who represented Mayor Cesar Molitas, Pastor Santiago Mayao, Mr. Rafael Valencia, PltCol Dominga Terrado and other PNP personnel and guests.
The team said more beneficiaries are expected with the project which is part of the of the realization of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030 as well as of the programs under the HEALTHIER Benguet agenda of the Governor. By SAP Jr.
