BANGUED, Abra September 30 – Four suspects responsible for the brutal murder of a 38-year old teacher, who happens to be an active member of the LGBTQIA+ Abra, were successively arrested by combined police operatives during a hot pursuit operation in the municipality Thursday.
At 7:50 AM of September 28, 2022, Rudy Steward “Estee” Sayen was gunned down by one of the riding-in-tandem armed suspects while on his way to the school he was teaching. The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital but later died while being treated. Sayen is a native of Boliney, Abra and residing at Barangay Zone 4, Bangued. He is a teaching at the Suyo National High School in Pidigan, Abra. The shooting happened along the road of Barangay Licpan, Bangued, Abra.
The incident was captured by a CCTV camera. After conducting hot pursuit, the police were able to nab the suspects. They were identified as Sonny Boy Gandeza Tullas,31, construction worker and a resident of Cabaroan, Tayum, Abra, he was the driver of the gunman; Romel “Ambong” Paa, a resident of Tayum, Abra and he was the gunman; Aldrin Alagao, also of Cabaroan, Tayum, he was the watchman and Abelardo Talape, of Patucanay, Abra a traffic enforcer. According to the Bangued police, murder charges will be slapped against the four arrested suspects while motive of the crime is still being ascertained by investigators.
