ATOK, Benguet – A 4-year old boy died while five persons, including the driver, was injured after a La Trinidad-bound Fierra loaded with vegetables suffered mechanical trouble and fell off a deep ravine at sitio Akiki, Paoay here Monday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, Regie Peranel, while he named the injured vehicle occupants as Decion Bakakew Lad-ey, 58, married, driver, Dominga D. Gaewen; Carlyn P. Lad-ey; Jenelyn G. Gaewen and Jemalyn O. Mariano, all residents of Batan, Kabayan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed all the aforesaid individuals were on board a Ford Fierra loaded with vegetables that was bound for La Trinidad when it suddenly suffered from mechanical trouble causing it to stop in an ascending portion of the road that caused the same to immediately move back until it plunged into a deep ravine.
As a result of the incident, the vehicle occupants were thrown off the fierra which resulted in multiple head and body injuries.
The victims were rushed to the Atok district Hospital for medical treatment but the young boy died while undergoing medical treatment.
The case is still subject to further investigation.
