Some forty journalists from the different media outfits in Baguio and Benguet were able to complete a one-day Basic Life Support with first Aid Training spearheaded by the Cordillera PNP Press Corps held at the Pedro Dumol Hall of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) along South Drive last July 18, 2023.
Jordan Tablac, president of the Cordillera PNP Press Corps, said that the training was aimed at providing the media practitioners with the basic skills and knowledge on basic life support and first aid training which they could use to9 save lives in their families and the communities when they happen to encounter individuals that need help during emergency situations.
He added that the training is just part of similar training that will be spearheaded by the organization in the coming months to ensure the readiness of media practitioners to be able to respond for calls for help during emergency situations that could transpire anytime.
The media practitioners were trained on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and bandaging which will be important in saving lives, especially when they will be in the frontline where individuals need their help as first responders.
The trainors of the said event were Fire Officer (fO3) Michael Davis R. Rapayrapay, FO2 Brail V. Taluyo and FO2 Elva D. Cabatan of the La Trinidad fire station and the bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Benguet.
Tablac expressed the organization’s gratitude to those who spent their time in attending the training and for those who supported the successful conduct of the said event, saying that without them, the activity would not be successful, especially in providing media practitioners with the basic skills and knowledge in responding to emergency situations that may transpire during the practice of their profession as the same could happen anytime and anywhere.
Among those that supported the said training were the Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera under the able leadership of Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, Jr., the Baguio city Police Office (BCPO) headed by Police Col. Francisco Bulwayan, Jr., BFP Benguet under the stewardship of Fire Superintendent Jessie C. Annasiw, the La Trinidad fire station, BENECO under the leadership of Acting General manager Atty. Delma O. Carin֮o, SM City Baguio and the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) headed by its president Joseph S. Cabanas of Radyo Pilipinas.
