LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) started the first day of a two-day 2024 3rd Quarter Provincial Management and Development Conference (PMDC) held at the Star Jewel Lodge, San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao on August 7,2024.
The quarterly conference aims to update government social workers on their accomplishments as well as to keep them abreast of new information needed in implementing social welfare programs in the areas of responsibilities.
Around 45 municipal social welfare and development (MSWD) and provincial social welfare and development (PSWD) personnel actively participated in the conference.
During the capability building sessions, some various topics were tackled and discussed including the R.A 11908 – Establishment and Implementation of Parent Effectiveness Session (PES) Program, Yakap Bayan Modules for Recovering (Person who use Drugs) and Guidelines on the Coordination Mechanism of Persons with Disability (PWD) Affairs Office in the Implementation of Programs and Services for PWDs.
The conference helped social workers gain new skills and knowledge that will enable better performance and higher levels of engagement. This in turn will help increase organizational effectiveness as each social worker grows in confidence, self-knowledge and ability. It also transforms the society by building conscious and capable citizens through the provision of comprehensive, integrated and sustainable social development services.
Other activities will continue tomorrow including the presentation of PSWDO’s strategies and implementation of the different programs and services and presentation of best on social welfare programs. By Michelle Acantilado
