A total of 450 aspiring soldiers from Apayao participated in a four-day Army recruitment and examination activity held at Apayao State College (ASC), Conner campus, from May 14 to 17, 2026.
The examinations were administered by the Army Testing Office in partnership with the Army Recruitment Office–Luzon, as part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) ongoing efforts to attract qualified individuals for military service.
Of the total number of applicants, 150 took the Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) for the Officer Candidate Course (OCC), while 90 completed both the Army Qualifying Exam (AQE) and the Special Written Exam (SWE), also for the OCC. An additional 200 applicants took the AFPSAT for the Candidate Soldier Course (CSC).
The activity was overseen by a team led by LTC Romel M. Tambio, with the support of Ssg Gina M. Cervantes, Sgt. Rhannie E. Wenceslao, Sgt. Jessie E. Sumibcay, Cpl. Eliser Mark C. Denaga, and PFC Arman B. Acosta.
The high turnout underscores the strong interest in military service among the province’s youth. Organizers noted the smooth and orderly conduct of the examinations, reflecting the readiness and discipline of the local applicants.
