LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao Student Assistance Program (ASAP) under Project ASENG reports about 4,729 student grantees benefitted from the aid to students provided by the provincial government for the second semester of school year 2023-2024.
According to the ASAP data, about 40 million pesos in cash aid has been disbursed helping students achieve their dream of finishing school, a degree or getting a professional license.
ASAP is one of the special projects of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. which stemmed from the desire of Apayao founding father Elias K. Bulut for all yApayao families to have at least 1 member to become a professional.
At present, not only one but more than one in a family can avail of scholarships or student assistance from the provincial government as the governor recently recommended an increase in the allocation of the budget for the aid.
This program focuses on giving assistance per semester to senior high school students enrolled in private schools anywhere in the Philippines (@PhP7,500), college students and those going for earning units (@PhP7,500), Master’s and doctoral degree takers (@PhP10,000), law and medicine students (@PhP20,000), as well as one time aid for those having reviews for board exams and other eligibility(@PhP10,000), review assistance for bar exams and medicine/physician exams (@PhP20,000), and special cases (@PhP20,000).
With this program, students and parents will not be burdened much by the financial requirements of the schooling. Through this government initiative by the governor, it is hope that Apayao will produce more professionals who shall be the province’s main drivers of economic growth and sustainable development.
