This is how former Philippine Participating Youths (PPYs) describe the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), an international exchange platform for budding frontrunners.
Good news to all young leaders who are looking for opportunities to grow, the National Youth Commission (NYC) formally announces the opening of applications to the 47th SSEAYP.
The SSEAYP is an annual cultural and knowledge exchange program started in January 1974 that aims to promote goodwill, friendship, and mutual understanding by the virtue of a Memorandum of Agreement between the member states of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN), and the government of Japan.
If you are 18-30 years old, passionate in pushing for your advocacies, an active citizen with loyalty and love for the country, then you can be the next Philippine Youth Ambassador of Goodwill, a title given to SSEAYP’s Philippine representatives.
This program provides an avenue for an immersion in different culture through homestay programs, friendship building, enhancement of knowledge about timely and significant issues in relation to United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), discovery of innovative ideas and best practices, and amplification and development of projects through international collaborations.
Each ASEAN country will select 28 PYs and one National Leader (35-55 years of age) who will convene in Japan onboard the Japanese luxury liner called MS Nippon Maru. Selected and deserving participants will embark on a 52-day cruise to ASEAN countries for port-of-call activities, discussion and voluntary activities, Solidarity Group (SG) activities, PY seminars, and interactions with other youth participants.
The NYC, with the help of other partner agencies, shall select the youth participants; all 17 regions will be well represented. Also, the NYC leads the implementation of the Philippine Country Program in cooperation with other government and non-government entities, including the SSEAYP alumni through the SSEAYP International Philippines.
The applications for the 47th SSEAYP is open until 30 March 2020 (Monday), 5:00 PM. Interested applicants may visit http://bit.ly/47thSSEAYPPHPY to access the application form.
