SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The city police here under Superintendent Julius Suriben, arrested five persons for various criminal offenses in a simultaneous operations recently, three days after the assumption of new La Union police director Senior Supt Angelito Dumangeng, who ordered an intensive apprehensions of wanted criminals engaged in several crimes in the province.
Suriben said David Valdez, 47, and Rafael Castillo, 34, both residents of Barangay Tanqui here, were arrested for possession of illegal drugs or shabu.
They were caught in a buy bust operation at 11:30 a.m. in Barangay Biday. Seized from their possession is one sachet of shabu, buy-bust money and drug paraphernalia.
Next to fall at 12:30 p.m. was Gabriel Ellana, 33, a resident of Irisan-Apugan, Baguio City, who was arrested for frustrated murder based on warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Judge Rose Mary Molina Alim of the Regional Trial Court Branch 7.
Fourth to fall was a minor involved in robbery and theft cases identified only as Jimboy which was taken for protective custody at 6:19 p.m. after he was tagged as the suspect who sold stolen cellphones and tablets which were later recovered.
The fifth man to fall was Judy Ibea, a former barangay chief tanod of Badoc, Ilocos Norte and a person of interest in some sensational cases in Ilocos Norte. He was collared at about 7:00 p.m. after he threatened a neighbor using a caliber 45 pistol. Police arrested him and seized a caliber .45 pistol without proper documents.
All of them were brought to the city police station for documentation and proper filing of charges.
Ellana meanwhile was turned-over Baguio City police office while Jimboy was endorsed to the City Social Welfare Development Office.
