TUBLAY, Benguet – Five occupants of a motor vehicle cheated death after their vehicle suffered from mechanical trouble, lost its brakes and plunged into a 250-meter ravine at Babatan, Ambassador, here, Monday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the occupants of the vehicle as Romy Paririno Jaco, 22, married, farmer and driver of the ill-fated vehicle; Noven Andress Segundo, 25, single, farmer; Claro Kigas Cato, 43, married, farmer; Roberto Paririno Jaco, 52; and Amel Sanggoy Sagapi, 28, married, farmer all resident of Babatan, Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victims were on board their vehicle that was descending along the portion of the Halsema highway when it suddenly lost its brakes, causing the driver to loose control of the same until it plunged into the deep ravine.
Rescuers and responding police operatives immediately rushed the victims to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment where they were later confined fur further observation.
