LUNA, Apayao – The Department of Science and Technology’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (DOST-SETUP) provided aid to 5 small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) worth P2,034,320.00 in aid for the first semester of 2024.
In line with the economic development goals of the province to strengthen support to MSME’s promotion, the DOST-Apayao PSTO implemented the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
DOST-SETUP is a nationwide strategy to encourage MSME’s to upgrade their technologies, implement innovation at their level and, as a result, strengthen the country’s innovation system.
The beneficiaries benefitting from the said aid with the name and location of their businesses are the following:
Madeline P. Palustre owner of Maddie’s Fashion Design and Service in Malekkeg, Santa Marcela, Apayao. She received an amount of P734, 000.00 from DOST as an assistance.
Emelda M. Caluducan owner of J.D. ‘s Print and Sew Center in Poblacion, Pudtol, Apayao. She received an amount of P410, 000.00 from DOST as an assistance.
Rey C. Duldulao owner of Revelyn Duldulao’s Farm in Poblacion, Luna, Apayao. He received an amount of P265, 000.00 from DOST as an assistance.
Joy D. Saleng owner of Isnag Processed Food Products in Turod, Luna, Apayao. She received an amount of P200, 000.00 from DOST as an assistance.
Abigail Pascual owner of Triple A Bakery in Poblacion, Calanasan, Apayao. She received an amount of P425, 320.00 from DOST as an assistance.
With the support from national agencies, MSMEs in Apayao are hoped to become more competitive and contribute more to the overall economic growth in the area as their ability to engage in local and national markets have improved. By Ginalyn Gapusan
