TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Regional Director of the Cordillera office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Maria Aplaten led the distribution of cash assistance to 50 patients of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) through the Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) on Tuesday, July 16 during the blessing and unveiling of the Malasakit Center.
The 50 AICS beneficiaries each received PhP5,000 cash assistance to help them alleviate the financial burden while being confined in the hospital.
Apart from the cash grant, they were also given food packs for their sustenance.
With the opening of the Malasakit Center in Kalinga which marks a crucial step by the national government to strengthen healthcare services for provincial residents, it is expected that the DSWD would be able to assist more patients being burdened with financial predicaments for their hospitalization. This is one way to bring government services closer to those who need it most.
The provision of cash assistance through the AICS also underscores the commitment of the DSWD to ensure efficient and effective services for all individuals seeking assistance.
The AICS is a regular program of the DSWD. It provides immediate assistance for medical, burial, transportation, education, food and other support services for Filipinos undergoing a crisis, in accidents, or severe poverty, ensuring timely support for those in urgent circumstances.
