BUGUIAS, Benguet – More than five thousand farmers from the province’s thirteen municipalities who were heavily impacted by the ongoing Corona virus Disease (COVID) 2019 pandemic will be receiving their financial assistance from the social welfare department’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program to help them cope with the difficult situation.
Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crme and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap, who recently visited the municipality to spearhead the distribution of the financial assistance to the beneficiaries of the labor department’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged and Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, said that the distribution of the assistance to the recipients from the sector of the farmers will be done next month.
He claimed that P25 million from the aforesaid program was earmarked for the identified farmer beneficiaries from the 13 municipalities as part of the series of assistance from the concerned government agencies being distributed to the residents of the province to help them hurdle the difficulties caused by the ongoing pandemic.
Based on the available data presented by the lawmaker, some 387 farmers from the 13 towns will be granted the financial assistance from the agency.
Congressman Yap pointed out that instead of the assistance being deposited to the bank account of the beneficiaries which is an added burden to them to be opening such account with the nearest depository bank and going to the agency to get their benefit, the distribution of the assistance will be scheduled in their municipalities so that the beneficiaries will not be hard up in travelling to the capital town or the regional office of the agency to get such benefit.
According to him, there will be a continuous distribution of financial assistance to the qualified beneficiaries in the different parts of the province in the coming months to provide the people with the necessary aid for them to be able to start recovering from the negative effects of the pandemic, especially to their employment and economic activities.
He stated that personnel of the concerned government agencies handling the various programs providing assistance to the members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors will be scheduling their visits to the 13 municipalities to distribute the financial assistance to the recipients so as not to burden them in having to ravel just to get their assistance.
Earlier, Congressman Yap assured the people of the province that every household will be provided with the appropriate assistance from concerned government agencies during these trying times to allow them to recover from the pandemic and bring back their robust economic activities for them to be able to continue uplifting the living condition of their families.
The lawmaker claimed that their distribution of financial assistance to the identified beneficiaries from the different parts of the province will be done alternately during the remaining parts of the year for them to be able to feel the presence of the government in their midst to cater to their needs during the prevailing hard times caused by the pandemic for over a year now since the implementation of the Luzonwide lockdown.
