The Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) vaccination team needs to inoculate a certain number of individuals to achieve 70 percent and the desired full immunization of the city’s 281,000 eligible population.
This was reported by City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo during the management committee meeting last week, with the presence of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, City Administrator Bonifacio dela Pena and the department heads.
From the first vaccination roll-out in March 2021 up to the end of September, a total of 195,124 (69.44%) had the first dose, with 55,112 (55.20%) fully vaccinated from the eligible population of 281,000. A total of 350,236 doses were jabbed; of J and J, Gamaleya, Astrazeneca, Pfizer, Sinovac, and Moderna vaccine brands.
An adjustment of weekly vaccination target is needed as the city aims for 70% (196,700) full immunization of the 281,000 eligible population, by Nov. 6, or at the 36th week. Thus to achieve said full immunity of 196,700; a minimum of 1,070 second doses need to be jabbed daily, ending Nov. 6, Dr. Galpo said.
Dr. Galpo based the computations from the latest data where vaccinations surpassed weekly targets of 21,768 for the past three consecutive weeks.
With available vaccines, and jabs being done by hardworking health workers in open vaccination sites; the target of having 281,000 fully immunized persons is forecasted to be completed on Dec. 4, or at week 40. A weekly 22,984 doses need to be done, of 9,439 first and 13,485 second doses from today up to Dec. 4, Galpo reported.
With this, 281,000 or 95% of the 296, 460 adult population from the 366,000 census-based population shall be fully vaccinated. Of the 366,000; 69,500 or 19 percent belong to those 17 years old and below.
