FLORA, Apayao – Fifty-six learners from Balasi Elementary School were recipients of aid from the Cordillera PhilHealth Regional Office (PRO-CAR) during a ceremony held at the school grounds in Flora, Apayao on May 28, 2024.
The aid distribution was part of a combined effort with the Cordillera office of the Department of Education-Cordillera (DepEd-CAR) under the ‘Salaknib Tan Namnama’ project aimed to support the educational and health needs of the students, providing them with essential resources to enhance their well-being and academic experience.
The aid package for each learner contained food packs, a bag of rice, health and hygiene kits, and school supplies, addressing both their nutritional and educational needs.
PRO–CAR Regional Vice President Dr. Dominga Gadgad and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Irene Angway led the awarding ceremony.
In her message to the learners, Gadgad encouraged them to continue their studies diligently, “Agiskwela kayo ubbing ta baka maggapo to kanyayo iti agbalin nga president iti PhilHealth,” she said.
Gadgad also highlighted the role of PhilHealth PRO CAR White, the union of PhilHealth employees nationwide, in spearheading this program. She expressed their dedication and love for the community, “We are here because we love you. We love the people of Balasi. We come with a little help but help yourselves too. Also, we have the Konsulta package, so we can go ahead and consult after the program. PhilHealth offers many services for you. Nu masapol yu iti agas umay kayo lang agpakonsulta,” she added.
Moreover, this program presented immediate aid and emphasized the importance of self-reliance and availing health services. Gadgad urged the learners and their families to utilize the Konsulta package and other PhilHealth services to maintain their health and well-being. By JCM
