TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Consolidated data from the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS), Tabuk City Fire Station (TCFS), and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) shows 58 vehicular traffic accidents recorded for the first quarter of 2025.
Of the 58 occurrences involving motorcycles, 34 were self-accidents, with the remaining 21 being collisions. All of the casualties, predominantly drivers, sustained both critical and moderate injuries.
The report showed that human error from alcohol intoxication, bad turning, over-speeding and inattentive driving caused most of these traffic accidents. Bad road condition was also noted as one factor for the occurrences of road crashes in the major thoroughfares in the city.
According to the report, car accidents often occur between 4 and 11 PM and 12-2AM, with the majority occurring in Bulanao.
Using the new reporting format for VTA introduced by the City Public Information Office (CPIO), the data revealed that 56 males and two females were harmed. Of the 58 cases, nine were minors, and 49 were adults. Additionally, 22 of the victims were driving without a driver’s license.
The CPIO’s ongoing communication research, “Road Safety Starts with You: Comprehensive Road Safety Education,” which aims to promote overall road safety by focusing on obeying traffic laws, obeying speed limits, and sharing road responsibility, is expected to help curb rising VTA cases in the city.
