BESAO, Mountain Province – Six people died while two others were injured after their vehicle allegedly plunged into a 250-meter ravine at sitio Bunga, barangay Catengan, here, Thursday dawn.
The fatalities were identified as Rhema Sumingwa, 18; Lyndell Keith Alfonso, 20; Hazel Solang, 19; Merly Docyogen, 16; Johnwin Aligan, 15; and Dalog Mangallay, 18 while those injured were named as Lander Matikyem, 17 and Novelyn Sagantiyan, 17.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) Engr. Mildred Piluden disclosed that one of the injured occupants of the ill-fated vehicle was referred to the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital in Bauko town for CT scan while one of them is being provided with close medical supervision at the Besao District Hospital.
She said that the occupants of the vehicle attended a gathering in barangay Laylaya where the same was en route to the town proper when the said accident happened.
Further, the vehicular accident actually transpired Thursday dawn but it was only reported to the concerned authorities late Thursday afternoon after a woman who passed by the site heard the moaning of the survivors that prompted her to seek the assistance of residents to report the said matter.
Probers are still completing their investigation on the said vehicular accident prior to the release of further details.
