BONTOC, Mountain Province – Remaining true to its commitment and goal to have a drug-free community, the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) provided livelihood assistance amounting to P20,000.00 each to six graduates of the Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) or Wellness Program.
According to Social Welfare Officer III Stephanie Kanongkong of the Office of the Social Welfare and Development Officer, the said assistance came from the LGU’s Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) Fund.
Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., commended the surrenderers for their willingness and commitment to have undergone the said program which brings them closer to a more reformed life.
Meanwhile, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) hoped for the success of their chosen livelihoods which include poultry raising and welding services as it would greatly benefit their economic status and their life in general.
PMAJ Pedro Tactay, Chief of Police of the Bontoc Municipal Police Station further encouraged the surrenderers to contribute to the municipality’s anti-drug campaign by participating in the Information, Education, and Communication Campaign and other activities to achieve a drug-free town.
Also present during the turnover are Intelligence Officer I Jayjay Balut of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – Mountain Province and barangay officials of Barangay Bontoc Ili led by Punong Barangay Paula Pangesfan.
The turnover was held on March 23, 2023, at the Mayor’s Conference Hall, Municipal Capitol.
