BALBALAN, Kalinga – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council announced the results of the 2022 Gawad KALASAG Seal for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and Offices (LDRRMCOs) recently and provincial government, the city government, and the municipal governments of Balbalan, Lubuagan, Rizal and Tinglayan are among the fully compliant-rated local governments in the region.
According to the Civil Defense Cordillera, a total of 48 local government units (LGUS) in the Cordillera Administrative Region successfully passed this assessment. Four LGUs were rated as Beyond Compliant, while 44 were rated as Fully-Complaint. Beyond Compliant ratings are given to those LGUs who exceeded the standards for the establishment and functionality of the LDRRMCOs as prescribed under Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 10121. Meanwhile, fully compliant ratings are for those who generally adhere to the standards for the establishment and functionality of the LDRRMCOs.
The Gawad KALASAG Seal for LDRRMCO is envisioned to serve as an assessment mechanism for all LGUs as they implement the mandatory provisions of Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act No. 10121 on the institutionalization of their Local DRRM Councils (LDRRMCs) and Local DRRM Offices (LDRRMOs), including other policy issuances of the NDRRMC.
