BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – – Adhering to its tagline, “We CARE, We share”, the Cordillera Association of Region Executives continues its humanitarian activities to the less fortunate.
CARE is supporting six college scholars for the academic year 2014 – 2015. They are enrolled in various courses in different universities in the region.
FJ Javier from Peñarubia, Abra, expressed his gratitude to the CARE officers and members for being one of their scholars during the CARE General Assembly at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Multi-purpose here last Friday.
He shared that he has been working hard in his studies and graduated valedictorian, but due to financial difficulties, he was not certain if he can pursue a college course. Through the CARE scholarship program and assistance from Abra Governor Estaquio Bersamin, FJ is now a Mining engineering student at Saint Louis University.
The other scholars have enrolled BS Environmental Science at Benguet State University, BS Education at Kalinga Apayao State College); BS Information Technology at SLU, and Information Technology (ACS).
Since the CARE scholarship program started in 1996, it has already supported the tertiary education, both technical-vocational and baccalaureate courses, of more than 230 poor but deserving students.
The association is also involved in some gift-giving and financial assistance/sponsorship project. For years now, the association has been giving gifts like blankets to indigent patients at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
