BAGUIO CITY – Combined police operatives and intelligence agents were able to effect the arrest of some six hundred forty two wanted persons who were issued warrants of arrests by the different courts inside and outside the city to help in sustaining the prevalence of decent peace and order situation in the city.
Based on the report of the Baguio city Police office (BCPO), the arrested wanted persons were reportedly charged with murder, homicide, rape, physical injuries, violations of special laws on illegal drugs, carnapping and illegal possession of firearms and deadly weapons last year.
Further, the BCPO disclosed that 16 top most wanted persons were arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents last year.
The service of warrants of arrest to individuals who continue to hide from the long arms of the law is part of the efforts of the local police force to ensure the peace and order of the city.
For this year alone, law enforcers were able to effect the arrest of 13 top most wanted persons who have been charged for homicide, frustrated murder, statutory rape, theft and other index crimes.
The BCPO claimed that there were 39 other wanted persons who were arrested by the BCPO personnel who were charged for theft, estafa, physical injuries, robbery with force upon things, falsification of public documents, violation of Republic Act (RA) 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children, violation of RA 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, illegal possession of firearms, illegal gambling, illegal possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia among others.
The BCPO report stipulated that the prompt response of police personnel to calls or text messages for assistance and reports from concerned citizens resulted in the immediate arrest of 25 persons by virtue of warrantless arrests wherein the arrested individuals were involved in different cases like homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft and other non-index crimes.
Earlier, police officials expressed their gratitude to the residents, visitors and the different stakeholders for their continuous cooperation in the implementation of the different peacekeeping and anti-criminality interventions of the local police force that helped in achieving the primary objective of the police to make Baguio |city a safer place to study, work, live and do business.
Police authorities continue to appeal to the people to continue providing the law enforcers with vital information that will lead to the arrest of wanted persons that live in their places and the eventual solution to the crimes that were committed so that criminals will answer for the crimes that they have committed.
Since the assumption into office of President Rodrigo Duterte which was the start of the aggressive campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the different parts of the country, crime incidents started to drastically decline nationwide that resulted to the realization of decent peace and order scenarios in heavily populated urban areas considering that drugs was the root cause of all of the crimes that have been committed by individuals.
